Seniors Design Class Shirt
October 16, 2017
The Class of 2018 officers have announced that with the purchase of a yearbook for $20, the blue class t-shirts will be free.
Using a poll on Twitter, students helped come up with ideas for a phrase that would be on the back of the t-shirt, according to senior class President Matt Goncalves.
The most popular quote — ¨Worth the Wait, Class of One Eight” — is emblazoned on the back of the navy blue shirt, with ¨Gus 11¨ on the sleeve. Senior Nick Morawiec collaborated with Goncalves to come up with the design of the shirt. The word “senior” with a “18” embedded in the word is printed on the front left breast.
Augustus Adamopoulos, known as Gus, was a student at Ludlow Public Schools who was tragically killed in a boating accident the summer of 2010. This year he would be graduating with the Class of 2018.
¨Gus had been our classmate since fifth grade and we wanted to incorporate that on our shirt in memory of him for our senior year,¨ says Goncalves.
According to Goncalves, there have been numerous disagreements among the Seniors about incorporating Gus´s name on the shirt along with his basketball number. However, Goncalves says it will remain on the shirt in memory of their classmate.
¨These shirts show how diverse our class really is. They are different from all the others,¨ he says.
