Starting in 2021, due to student demand, homecoming returned as an annual event at LHS. This year, however, homecoming has been canceled, much to the dismay of the student body. It was canceled due to not enough people buying tickets.
This would be the freshman’s first homecoming, and many are disappointed about the cancellation. “I’m sad that I’m missing my first high school dance, I had a dress and everything,” freshman Isla Alvaro said.
Hayden Delrosario Rodrigues, a junior who received a homecoming proposal from her boyfriend, said, “I’m super bummed, I wish more people bought tickets.”
And while in my experience, homecoming has been a sad and generally un-fun experience, akin to the awkward school dances of middle school with squeaky gym floors and slightly embarrassing dance circles; I can understand the disappointment.
Despite this unfortunate cancellation, there are still many other Fall Spirit Week events to look forward to like dressing up for Spirit Week and attending the homecoming football game, two events I always look forward to.

Could you guys host the dance at the school and have fun decorating? That’s something we’ve done at other schools.

I don’t understand why are tickets sold for this event. But I know it is different in each city.
